Meh! I don’t know about that, but still!
We have all seen it. Mickey-Dee’s came out of no where with the Frappe (which I LOVE) and their iced coffee drinks. They have a whole new coffee “bar” to choose from! And let’s face it—they are a lot faster with the drive-thru than most “Bucks” I have been to. Not only that, many people I know LOVE the McD’s coffee much better than the Buck! Let’s take this a little further and venture to say, in this economy, it’s a tough sell for a $4 coffee over a $2 coffee that’s just as bangin’!
However, this isn’t the only thing I have noticed recently. On an early morning run to the “D” due to a lack of grocery shopping, I noticed that there were a lot of 20-somethings in the “dining room” (if we can call it that). All of them were single seaters on their computers and I thought, “What the heck?” until I saw the sign on the door that said free Wi-Fi!
So, there you have it—where the Buck used to be the place to be, I clearly didn’t know that there had been a shift in the coffee, studying, free Wi-Fi world. I know that neither one will “kill” the other one. The Buck will continue to be the Buck and McD’s will continue to be McD’s—and that’s ok!
